Foxey - Song A Week 2010 - 11

So I cheated. Last year I wrote a song about my 12 year old puppy, Foxey. Yesterday she died next to me on the kitchen floor. So I re-wrote this as a way to purge the sadness. I did some writing on it last night and today I recorded it. So I guess it isn't really cheating.




For Foxey

I sit here watching time go slipping by
It wasn’t long ago a puppy was by my side
I sit here with the memories from our past
It wasn’t long ago that she appeared
But now that dreadful time is slowly drawing near
I wonder why our time is fading fast

When I look into those loving eyes
I find it very hard to say my last goodbyes

I met you before my youngest child was born

I sit beside you on the kitchen floor
Running out of time and wanting even more
I hold you as you take your last breath
Then my daughter comes running up the stairs
She asks that question that just sits in the air
How do I explain your sudden death?
